Day Schildkret
Aritst and author, Day Schildkret, is known internationally for Morning Altars and has inspired thousands of people of all ages from all over the world to forage, build and be awed with Earth Art. Day is igniting an international movement by sharing the art, teachings and spirit of Morning Altars as a tangible spiritual practice that renews and redeems our relationship to wonder, creativity, nature connection, generosity, and impermanence.
Schildkret has been captivated by nature and art ever since first viewed the work of Andy Goldsworthy as a child. Day’s very first altars were on the side of his driveway after every rainstorm, where his five-year-old self-was devoted to saving the displaced worms by digging little holes and then decorating them in a mandala-like fashion. But it wasn’t until a major relationship breakup that he began to cultivate Morning Altars as a daily spiritual and beauty-making practice as a way to process his grief and heartache.
Schilkret’s first book, Morning Altars: A 7-Step Practice to Nourish Your Spirit through Nature, Art, and Ritual, will be published October 2018 by The Countryman Press, an imprint of W.W. Norton. The book features over 100 stunning earth altars, inspiring stories, and clear pathways for anyone to create.
Day Schildkret will create a ‘Morning Altar’—a beautiful mandala made from found, natural materials—live onsite on Friday afternoon; and he will also sign his books on Saturday at 1:30pm at the Bookstore.

Nature Dreamweaver (aka Nate Hogen), who has traveled the world building natural art installation sanctuaries that “facilitate the perception of a dream reality, manifesting heaven on earth and bringing communities together” has built an original “nest” on the Bioneers grounds.

Sporematic Parasol by Chad Lent and Stu Nami Smith
Stu Nami Smith is a fine arts graduate from the University of Illinois and a graphic artist professional. His work focuses on cosmically exploring the world of vector geometry, patterns, and fractals. He transfers his art onto various physical and digital mediums. Recently, his work is appearing on more textiles through dye-sublimation and screen printing.
The Sporematic Parasol is a bamboo canopy with a vibrant mandala printed on fabric which flutters gently in the wind. The mandala design is inspired by mushroom forms. It stands 12ft tall, and is illuminated by soft white lighting at night. It provides a colorful and shady spot to sit and reflect or enjoy some lunch underneath it. The elegant design uses both large and small natural bamboo poles to recreate an instantly recognizable object, on a larger-than-life scale. Chad Lent is a Bay Area maker who applies his fabrication skills to concepts inspired by travel, community, science & music. Lucien Dante is an artist who pushes boundaries to connect seemingly disparate elements, while striving to provide a renewed and inspired vision of what art is and can be.
“I am a forager artist. I source the natural world for its perfect materials, which serve as my primary inspirations and are intrinsic to my creative process. In my art, I utilize wool, hair and other cruelty-free animal products, as well as plant products, clay and metals. Natural materials have an abundance of wisdom and a rich capacity for expression. In harnessing their nuanced textures, colors, forms and natural histories, I recognize nature as my active creative partner and strive to forge a conscious, sensory-rich relationship between my art and the natural world. Utilizing traditional processing techniques like felting, spinning, knitting, weaving, sewing, sculpting, painting, welding and texturizing, I invest in creative practices that unite the ancient past with the present.
I also have a background in the healing arts through hands-on energetic healing modalities. The history of art as a tool for healing is as diverse and extensive as the history of art itself. In an effort to innovate that history, I incorporate healing impulses into my creative practice via both process and product. The result of intertwining traditional artistic practices and purposes with healing arts and my contemporary consciousness, context and cultural perspective is a bold, original, modern aesthetic.
As a child, I was inspired by arts and crafts made from natural materials, which I discovered at multi-cultural festivals. I soon began making my own products, working on farms and harvesting fiber from animals. I planted flowers and processed them to make dyes for the yarn I had spun from raw fleeces I had shorn and carded. As I got older, I bought shares in fiber animals from organic farms so I could both support the animals and farmers and acquire the fleeces. Over the years, my three-dimensional work transformed from functional arts, like fashion and household appliances, to fine arts with healing functions.
As an artist striving to create cohesion between my art and my art practice, it is vital to discover a context in which my life is philosophically and practically aligned with my work. One of my future trajectories will be to cultivate a farm-to-gallery praxis that acknowledges the animals and nature-based materials I use as the initial producers of my art. My farm-to-gallery concept is the ideal platform for this goal as it provides a framework for farming, life cycle of materials, functional art, fiber art, fine art and healing art to unite via one conscious continuum.”

Lindsay Carron
Carron has empowered communities with murals, portraits and arts education in Kenya, Mexico, and Alaska. She is a published illustrator, an artist in residence with US Fish and Wildlife Service, and an activist having partnered with California Wolf Center, Apex Protection Project, The Whale Museum of San Juan Island, and Creative Visions Foundation.
Carron received a B.F.A. from Pepperdine University, and lives and works in Los Angeles and Alaska. The uplifting visuals of Lindsay’s work represent the potential for humanity to come together to realize a healthy future for the planet, with all our voices heard.
Home for Salmon – Home for Everyone
This community project engages the Bioneers audience in the current state of salmon and accessible salmon runs in the state of California and up the Pacific Coast towards Alaska. Bioneers guests are invited to color their own salmon and contribute their salmon, imprinted with their own creativity, to a large scale map demonstrating the salmon spawning habitat in California. The current state of accessible salmon spawning grounds is bleak, but by adding these salmon to the map, we are together envisioning a more healthy future for this species, the surrounding ecosystems, and the people. The final map, hand drawn and embellished with colorful salmon by Bioneers guests, will be part of the auction, with 100% proceeds going back to Bioneers.
Lindsay Carron’s artwork lies at the crossroads of indigenous voice and environmental activism. She travels to remote areas of the planet to document wild lands and human relationship to them. Her intricate ink drawings offer viewers an opportunity to connect to their own wild hearts.

Minoosh Zomorodinia is an Iranian-born interdisciplinary artist who makes visible her emotional and psychological reflections as seen in her mind’s eye inspired by nature and her environments. Her work exposes and experiments with humanity’s relationship to the natural world. She earned her MFA in New Genres from San Francisco Art Institute, and holds a Masters degree in Graphic Design and BA in Photography from Azad University in Tehran. She has received several awards and residences including MFA Fellowship from San Francisco Art Institute, Kala Art Institute Media Art Fellowship, and Djerassi Resident Artists Program. She has collaborated with environmental artists collectives Open5 in Iran before moving to the United States in 2009. She has exhibited locally and internationally. Currently she works and lives in the Bay Area and is Affiliate Artist at Headlands Center for the Arts.

WEAD at BIONEERS
Women Eco Artists Dialog in collaboration with the EcoArt Matters class at Laney College are producing an exhibition and two ecoart installations this year at Bioneers. View the WEAD exhibition where Feminist Eco Artists engage with the Bioneer’s theme Pathways Forward in the showcase hallway. Interact with the installation Precarious Ecologies that draws attention to the and precarious and fragile environmental conditions that support human life on earth. On the last day of Bioneers viewers will have the opportunity to interact with this installation. Also, on display will be an installation of the mural created for Our Children’s Trust rally in San Francisco by the EcoArt Matters class from Laney College.
WEAD is an organization that furthers the fields and understanding of environmental and social justice art by providing a networking platform for artists, curators, educators, and public art administrators. WEAD also offers ecoart and social justice programing, exhibitions and an online magazine.

The Zen Playground by Kelsi Anderson & Andres Amador (Exhibit Hall)
Kelsi and Andres are nature-based, ephemeral artists from the Bay Area who operate Elemental Arts, which works with business teams to excite creativity, get inspired by nature, deepen interpersonal connections, and strengthen one’s sense of self.
This interactive installation allows participants to experience the joy of spontaneous creativity as well as the release of letting it go. Drop in to create an artwork with our nature-inspired activities and join in one of our scheduled sessions to co-create with fellow Bioneers. Stop by to sink your hands into our Zen Garden sand tray and feel yourself instantly grounded.

Willow Older grew up in the South Island of New Zealand and now calls Mill Valley home. A professional writer and editor, Willow is a self-taught artist who loves applying saturated colors to unexpected surfaces.

Bohypsian
Bohypsian’s mission is to explore healing. In a culturally integrated world, we have an opportunity to share authentic stories reminiscent of ancient times, in their own way, in their own culture. Though these differences once divided us, new meaning is emerging and it is a fierce outcry for healing and understanding. Bohypsian hears this tremendous call, and is responding.
A graduate of Santa Barbara’s Brooks Institute of Photography, Michelle holds a BA in commercial advertising. She went on to win the International Photo, Hallmark Hall of Fame, and Penn Woman of America awards for her photography and videography. During her years building a successful career as both a commercial and artistic photographer, Michelle knew she would one day find Bohypsian. Its mission crystallized during her father’s battle with cancer, which awoke a realization within her that the world had moved further than it ever has been away from understanding the importance of healing.She began exploring her own healing, starting with yoga, meditation and food; always exploring the comparisons of cultures and their beliefs. Her photojournalism and activism took her from California to Fukushima, New Mexico, the Black Forest, London and Paris, and beyond … and included her own love of cooking and singing in sharing with other story tellers, who tell in different forms. Through it all she has logged, captured photographs and video, and prepared stories for Bohypsian. Her mission to learn as many ways of healing as life has to offer, and tell them, bringing divided people together, means Bohypsian is not only a reflection of her own journey, but a medium through which any great healing story from anywhere in any form, can be told at the quality tales worth telling deserve.

Tenaya Amelia Wieczorek
Tenaya Amelia Wieczorek is a visionary artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She attended the California College of the Arts, and has painted murals nationwide. Tenaya creates Intuitive Dream Paintings using a layered technique of acrylic painting that draws imagery from dreams, intuition and visionary journeys. This improvisational technique is practiced without sketching or having preconceptions of what she will create. The paintings become living landscapes under her brush as raw creative energy channels through her. Tenaya has translated her unique style to a variety of media including ceramics, glassblowing, drawing and cut paper-collage. For five years she ran a successful greeting card business featuring her art, and alongside painting, she works as a Visionary Web Designer, helping Artists, Healers and Entrepreneurs express their unique essence on the web. Tenaya is also a teacher of Active Dreaming and offers dream workshops and classes that combine dreamwork and art, as well as a Monthly Women’s Dream Salon in Marin County, and one-on-one Dream Exploration Sessions.

Gloria Glo
Gloria’s intuitive journey through patterns and design has led her to the world of Visionary Art as a healing practice. Her work interweaves mandala symbolism, natural patterns, and sacred geometry into one unified portal-like experience. A dancer at heart, Gloria’s visionary creations birth from a Wholistic way of life embedded in spiritual practices that allow her to accesses patterns of symbiosis and radical interconnection. The portals depict the movement of elemental energy through the diversity of bodies and structures.
Through her work, she wishes to inspire, amplify imagination, and to guide the viewer to a circular way of seeing. Mandalas represent wholeness— Gloria’s passion is to use art as a tool to create a regenerative design for the many areas of our reality that need this restoration: food systems, education, religious and spiritual dogmas, social structures and on. Holly DeFount
Holly DeFount is an artist, jeweler, and author living in the east bay. She self-published a Tarot deck (http://theincidentaltarot.com /), an Oracle deck (http://acuriousoracle.com/), and is at work on a second Tarot deck called the Sibylline Tarot. Her creative focus is Devotional Art and illustration; she has taught multiple workshops on folklore, magical art, and creating divination materials over the past decade.
Elemental Healing Hex Mandala
A tabletop “Hex” mandala designed with the intention of manifesting Healing energy to people and planet. It incorporates color, shapes, symbolism, and numerology to embody healing currents. The table will serve as a centerpiece to meditate upon and focus our healing intentions. Visitors will have an opportunity to write out their own healing wishes and intentions to be read aloud over the the piece as it is being painted.

Georgie Nakima
Georgie Nakima is a multidisciplinary artist and muralist based out of Charlotte, NC. After honing in on her artistry at Northwest School of the Arts, she attended Winston-Salem State University with intention to explore the natural world. Her studies in Life Sciences have fueled her insight in environment preservation and philosophy, and transcends through her work’s subject matter. Her work pays homage to the African and Indigenous diaspora while highlighting nature and biodiversity. She casts a hero-like vibe to her subjects that represents the resilience and triumph that builds into the essence of women, people of color, and wildlife. The Garden exhibit is an ongoing visual narrative that channels a timeless capture of the living experience. Her work embraces the connection between nature and the Source of life with an Afrofuturistic twist that represents that hero that lives within you- the goddess, the King, the Queen, the warrior. Her subjects carry an intangible strength and divinity while counteracting societal stereotypes and man-made barriers. The final touches highlight botanical essence and wildlife, celebrating the totems of life on earth beyond human interference.
Ishka Lha
Ishka Lha (pronounced Ee-shka Lha) was born in 1982, and grew up on a ranch atop the rolling hills of northern California, where the quiet natural beauty of her childhood surroundings inspired endless imaginative play and creativity. Although she earned a professional B.A. degree in architecture at university, she was instead called to devote her life to the creation of healing art. Ishka is part of a growing visionary art movement that is dedicated to the happiness of all beings, and approaches her creative process as a spiritual practice. Her art explores and celebrates the natural radiance inherent in all dimensions of life through the use of neo-traditional iconography and mythology, and she is especially interested in what universal archetypes have most helpfully governed mankind’s passage through time into greater avenues of mutual respect, understanding, and heartfelt livelihood. Her work is primarily featured in private collections, galleries, and transformational art and music festivals throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Travel in a Tiny Home was launched in early 2018 by co-creators, Lindsay and Eric Wood. The project was born out of their desire to simplify their lives from the hustle and bustle of the Bay Area.
They’d been living in Marin County, known as one of the most expensive counties in the US. After bidding on several homes and pieces of property, they pivoted their lives and chose to go tiny!
As travel lovers, Lindsay and Eric intend to visit tiny home villages across the US, with the goal of learning how to develop tiny home villages back in their home state of California! They are also passionate about assisting with legalization, zoning and legislation of tiny homes across the US!
Another passion Lindsay & Eric have, with Travel in a Tiny Home, is connecting those who love tiny homes with the opportunity to travel in a tiny home.
